The LOX Converter consists of the major parts:
The LOX container is consists of two welded shells. Inside the concentric outer shell the spherical inner shell is positioned onto spacers. The space between both shells is highly evacuated so the LOX container is a thermally isolated tank. The container has got pressure connections for the vaporiser and the combined filler and vent valve. A LOX probe is positioned vertically inside the container and measures the LOX content of the container by the capacitive method. The probe consists of two concentric tubes representing the plates of a capacitor connected with a measurement amplifier to stabilise, rectify and amplify the signal, which appears on a moving-coil instrument, the indicator, to show the LOX content of the container to the aircrew. |
